Vague Rules as written and how we clarified them.

Holding Limits

No province may have more than 10 holdings, no province may have more than rank 3 in a given holding. We deemed that this means the maximum total ranks is 30. It works for us; we have added a house rule for explicit Giri for the Daimyō... and changed the limit of rank from 3 to the daimyō's giri.

the other interpretation would be no more than 10 total ranks of holdings in a province, but that felt too tight for us.

House Rules

Personal Honor

We use start of year honor pool is equal to the sum of the personal honor scores of all PC's. PC's start with 1 personal honor. Personal honor is raised by spending 10 honor from the clan pool with the daimyō's permission. Unspent clan honor at end of year is lost, just like koku. No character may draw more than their personal honor from the pool for a single risk, including compels. (Keep in mind, extra honor after the first is used only for invoking extra stuff; it does not get the 4D bonus.)

Characters may spend personal honor, as well. If one debases oneself honorably, such as public denouncement of themself, a samurai may add current personal honor to the honor pool, at the price of reducing the personal honor score by 1. A hit to clan honor of up to twice personal honor may be reduced to a single point of clan honor loss by losing a point of personal honor.

Personal honor may be added in place of an aspect when making or defending against accusations of dishonorable conduct.

New Giri - Bushi

Samuri serve. Bushi fight. Samurai bushi serve by fighting. Orders are to be followed.

Ability: Once per season, add Giri dice to a risk when "just following orders"

Benefit: Giri bonus dice to initiatives.

New Giri - Daimyō

As Karo, plus, grants additional abilities as per extant rules. Sets maximum rank of each holding.
